Bio
Gabe Boyarin is a Boston-based composer, improviser, guitarist and electroacoustic musician studying at New England Conservatory of Music. Their work focuses on indeterminacy, juxtapositions of organic and synthetic, constructivist approaches to sound development, non-hierarchical points of view, and deconstructionist approaches to time, form, and gesture. They are inspired and influenced by the American experimental tradition, diasporic Judaism and Yiddish culture, modernist painters, phonetics and phonology, and Asian artistic and philosophical traditions (especially north Indian, Japanese, and Indonesian traditions). In March 2024 they released the CD “Bloom Interaction” in collaboration with composer and koto/cello player Marie Carroll. They have recently organized concerts in Boston and New York benefitting victims of the ongoing genocide in Gaza. They reside in Jamaica Plain with their partner and frequent collaborator Nathan Bernstein, a sculptor, visual artist, and linguist.
