This is the Deep Archive where I have some of my really early work from 1984 to 1992. I Left California to attend Berklee in 1989 – so this period includes the time before I left, and the first few years after arrival. I had played with rock players in Santa Cruz, and studied saxophone with a guy named Kurt Heisig, and spend a lot of time in the woodshed. It was a formative perdiod. After the move, I quickly hooked up with Masashi Harada, Glynis Lomon and the Boston improvisation scene while attendting Berklee. I had two simulataneous music educations – college and playing in this scene. It was a transformative period. I have a lot of recordings of this period that are not well recorded by my current standards – some are better than others. There are even a few studio recordings.
I’m going to sort through these and pull out things of particular interest and just make a video with a static image on it. I’ll post these on YouTube as the way to listen. That way this site can work like it does for the newer work which also has CDs and other Audio offered. I’ll make an “Album Page” like elsewhere in the site and have notes and any other relevant content…
