Last year we made a short movie at Evil Clown Headquarters. Raffi, my housemate, the artist behind all of the Sparkles artwork, the man at the video mixer at all our livestreams, wrote a script back before the pandemic and then it sat around for a while. Last summer, we finally got to work and spent several months practicing the acting, honing our technical chops, and figuring out what additional gear we needed not already available at ECH.
In the fall, I shut down the studio to music for 5 weeks and we went to work in earnest. In addition to writing the movie, Raffi Directed, Edited, and Acted one of the two primary roles. Deb Angelosanto, AKA DNA Girl, from Neurodivergent Orchestra was the other principal actor with a tiny third part played her grand niece Noah Mason… I did the soundtrack and technical support and a lot of the producer stuff, Paul Brennan, the Evil Clown Camera Operator, did the handheld camera, Patrick Brennan did some effects, and Evil Clown House Engineer Joel Simches did the sound recording and mastering…
I had wanted to compose a movie score for a long time. My compositional concept is all about Sonority over Duration – an approach which is ideally suited to soundtracks. I really enjoyed doing it! Anyway, we all worked our asses off and I am very proud of the result…
